Descendants of Samuel Pond
and
Descendants of Roger Ponder
The Pond's first came to America with the fleet of Governor Winthrop
in the 1630's. The Pond's were related to Governor Winthrop by marriage.
Governor Winthrop often inquired as to how "Old Pond", who had
remained in England, was doing. There were two or three brothers that
originally came with the Governor. A good source of information is the
publication "A Genealogical Record of Samuel Pond and his Descendants" published in 1875, written by Daniel
Streator Pond. Another more recent publication is "Pioneer Pond People
plus Robinson and Allied Families" published in 1992, written by Betty
Pond Snyder.
